Teacher's Comments:

Our School was delighted to have a series of workshops delivered by Dale Treadwell in November 07. It was clear from the outset that Dale was enthusiastic about and committed to conservation and caring for the earth. A series of four workshops were arranged and both teachers and pupils thoroughly enjoyed Dale's energetic and very informative presentations. The sessions were very interactive with lots of pupil participation. Dale succeeded in harnessing the interests of this wide age range from 4-12. Each 'fun filled' session encouraged pupils to respect and care for their local environment and the pupils gained new insights into wildlife and habitats. Dale brought a variety of visual aids and his 'animal' story with the Junior and Senior Infants was a major hit. At the end of each session, the pupils had lots of questions and Dale ensured that these questions were answered. The senior pupils were really fascinated by 'the ball of string' approach to food webs and chains. Dale also took time in the afternoon to talk to the school's Green Team committee and planted a variety of native Irish trees in our woodland area. Dale was an excellent 'eco warrior' role model for the pupils and he clearly 'walks the talk'! There was a real 'buzz' in the staff room following each of the sessions with teachers claiming Dale was the best facilitator they had experienced in their teaching career. I would fully endorse their evaluation of Dale's workshops. In promoting a knowledge of wildlife and protecting our local environment, he is 'simply the best'!

Dale’s visit to our school was a great success. He has a unique and engaging style and delivery which the children loved. His passion and energy over a tightly packed timetable was admirable. We would welcome the opportunity to host Dale in our school in the future.
Aidan Boyle, Scoil Cholmcille Ballybrack Dublin

We really enjoyed Dale's visit to our school. It was a wonderful experience for our children largely due to his very enthusiastic approach! He was very well prepared with excellent specimens and interactive games. He was very patient and well able to connect with our very young children. I believe that the children got a great deal of information from his visit as well as enjoyment.
Thank you for sending him to us.

Dale was super here in the school yesterday and the section on News2 was very good too. Thank you for sending him to us!
Avril Lamplugh, Rathdown Junior School

The students in Rathdown Junior School really enjoyed Dale Treadwell’s Batty Habits wildlife workshop on October 22nd. Dale shared his expertise on bugs and bats with all the classes. Some of his time in P2 was televised and aired on News2 on RTE2 as part of the Bram Stoker Halloween Festival. The girls learnt about ecosystems, the myths about bats and lots of other interesting facts. They got to look and examine a variety of bugs and to play a bat game outside. Dale is a fountain of knowledge about bats and wildlife

This year we had a visit from Dale Treadwill who carried out a fantastic workshop on wildlife. He had interesting video clips and brought along some bugs which the children were able to view. This was a great idea! The teachers were very impressed with the crannog club information and worksheets that Dale saved onto our school laptops for future use. A great success, well done Dale!

Please convey our heartfelt thanks to Dale for facilitating the workshops last Friday, January 27th. His delivery was dynamic, enthusiastic and informative. He made a special effort to include and accommodate our Special Needs pupils which did not go unnoticed. The feedback from all the teachers was positive and I would hope we may be able to have Dale return to our school at some point.

Thank you for picking us as one of the schools who had the pleasure of Dale Treadwell's company. He was fun, enthusiastic and the children absolutely loved him. We wanted to keep him here. He had interesting ideas and with his obvious love for the subject encouraged the children and teachers. He brought with him various items to show the children and used the interactive boards to show the children interesting things. He left information and lessons on CD to encourage us further in our environmental challenges. Thanks again and I thoroughly recommend him to future schools and indeed he is welcome back to us any time.
