About this recipe
A treat with an ingredient list you can say in one breath. Duck neck. That is it. No binder, no coating, no "meat derivatives". It is air-dried, which takes longer than baking but means nothing has to be added to hold the shape.
Why duck neck. A neck is bone, cartilage and meat together, so it is a chew rather than a biscuit. A dog has to work at it, and the working is the point: the abrasion may help take plaque and tartar off the teeth, and ten minutes of concentrated chewing settles a dog the way a walk does.
Who it suits. Medium and large dogs, and any dog that gets through a rawhide too fast. If your dog gulps rather than chews, start with a training bone. Supervise the chew and take away the last small piece.
Natural means it varies. A 100g pack is roughly 3 to 4 necks of 12 to 18cm. Colour and size differ from pack to pack because they are whole parts, not moulded ones. The weight is what you are buying.

It has bone in. Is a whole duck neck safe for my dog?
Yes. Air-dried duck necks are a long-standing favourite, and drying makes the bone soft enough to crunch rather than splinter. Stay nearby while your dog chews, pick a size they cannot swallow whole, and take away the last little piece. They are best for dogs over 10kg who like to chew. If yours is smaller, or tends to gulp, start with a training bone instead.
What are the benefits of duck necks for dogs?
A duck neck is meat, skin, cartilage and soft bone in one piece, so it gives a dog protein, natural calcium and glucosamine from the cartilage, and a long chew. The chewing itself is the main benefit: it scrapes plaque off the teeth and keeps a dog occupied in a way a biscuit cannot. Duck is also a useful protein for dogs that react to chicken or beef.
Can a puppy have a duck neck?
From around four months, once the adult teeth are coming through, and only in a size the puppy cannot swallow whole. Sit with them for the first few. For a small puppy or a dog under 10kg, start with a training bone or a chicken foot and move up.
Why does my pack look a bit different from last time?
Because these are real, whole pieces that have been air-dried, not shapes pressed out of a mould. Every animal is a little different, so the size and colour of each piece will vary from pack to pack. What stays the same is the weight on the front, so your dog always gets the full amount.
Is it really just one ingredient?
It really is. Duck neck, air-dried, and sourced within the EU. Nothing added to bind it, coat it, preserve it or flavour it. That is why the label on the pack is so short: there is nothing else to list.
How do I keep it fresh?
Somewhere cool and dry, with the pack sealed up between chews, and use it by the best-before date. If your dog only gets one now and again, just reseal the pack after each one and it will stay at its best.
