About this recipe
Most dog food does not look like food. We wanted a meal you could open and recognise, so we cook the duck gently at low temperature and add everything else afterwards.
What 70% duck actually means. 60% fresh duck meat and 10% duck necks. The other 30% is sweet potato, carrot, peas, kale, pear, blueberries, courgette and cranberries, plus pumpkin seeds, brewer's yeast, algae oil, wheat germ oil, algae powder, rosehip powder, rosemary and seaweed powder. Nothing on that list needs explaining.
A jar, not a pouch or a freezer. Because it is cooked and sealed in glass, the jar lives in the cupboard until you open it. No defrosting the night before, no freezer drawer full of pouches, no throwing out the second half. Open it, feed it, put the rest in the fridge for the next couple of days.
Meal or topper, your call. Every menu is complete and balanced, so a jar can be the whole meal. A lot of owners spoon it over dry food instead, to get fresh meat and moisture into a dog that is fine on kibble. Duck is the usual pick for a dog with itchy skin or a suspected beef or chicken sensitivity. The feeding guide covers both.

A 20kg adult dog eating 2% of its bodyweight a day gets 400g. That is one jar. Adults eat 2% to 2.5% of their bodyweight a day, small dogs up to 3%, puppies around 4%.

- Puppies up to 8 months: around 4% of bodyweight a day, split across two or three meals. Active dogs sit at the top of the range, older or less active dogs at the bottom.
- As a topper: replace a quarter to a third of the dry food by weight with the jar.
- Change over seven days. Days 1 and 2 a quarter jar mixed into the current food, days 3 and 4 half, days 5 and 6 three quarters, day 7 all jar. A sensitive stomach gets ten days.
- Watch the stool, not the bowl. Soft stool on day three means slow down a step, not that the food disagrees with the dog.
- Once opened, keep the jar in the fridge and use it within a few days. Serve at room temperature.

Questions you might have
How long will it keep?
Unopened, it keeps in the cupboard until the best-before date on the lid. Because it is cooked and sealed in the jar, it does not need a fridge or freezer until you open it. Once opened, pop it in the fridge and use it within a few days.
Is duck a good choice for a dog with allergies?
Often, yes. Food sensitivities in dogs are usually to a protein they have eaten a lot of, most often beef or chicken. Duck is new to most dogs, which makes it a sensible menu to try. If you suspect an allergy, feed only this menu for a few weeks and keep an eye on their skin and stools.
Where does the duck come from?
All our ingredients are sourced within the EU, and we name the meat right on the front of the jar: 60% fresh duck meat and 10% duck necks. You will never see "meat and animal derivatives" on a Naturally WILD label. Every single ingredient is listed in full in the Ingredients tab.
What if my dog turns their nose up at it?
Most dogs are in from the first spoonful, but a few are wary of anything new. Try mixing a spoon into their usual food and building up over a week. If it still is not landing, email us at query@naturallywild.ie and we will happily help you pick a different menu. Unopened jars can be returned within 14 days under our refund policy.
Is it suitable for my puppy or my older dog?
Yes to both. Every menu is complete and balanced for all life stages. Puppies eat a bigger share of their bodyweight, around 4% a day split into two or three meals, while older dogs usually sit at the lower end of the adult range. The feeding guide has the amounts for you.
